Island Flies is run by Mike Reed, who's passion is game fishing. He sells his specialised range of fishing flies, including traditional and modern innovative patterns, to use on loch and river. Mike also offers tuition at the Bazaars to anyone who asks. Using both traditional favourites and original patterns, these high quality fishing goods should keep any fisherman happy - and catching!

Nearly forty years.
Why did you start making your product?
It started off a hobbie, and I just kept going.
Where does your inspiration come from?
You've only to look out of the window in South Lochs for that, and to fish our clean lochs, rivers and sea full of fish!
Do you have any tips for anyone interested in making/selling their own products?To have a go, coming up with a product that you can sell and make a profit is much harder than people realise. It's a far better test than any marketing strategy to actually get what you have made infront of the public and see how they react. The trick is to listen to your customers and respond to their likes and dislikes, and develop products to match.
Where do you source your materials?
I find feathers and fluff all over the island, the rest comes from online sources and from mainland wholesalers.
